FCA WELCOMES JACOB’S TEAM AS PARTNER

Children's autism charity will work with and benefit from 11th Annual Manhattan Cup, presented by SpongeTech

2009 Press release

The Fishermen’s Conservation Association (FCA) is proud to welcome Jacob's Team as a partner for its 11th Annual Manhattan Cup "catch and release" charity fishing tournament in New York City, presented by SpongeTech.

FCA Manhattan Cup co-chair Captain Frank Crescitelli said that partnering with Jacob's Team played to both organizations' key strengths-raising awareness of important issues and sponsoring activities that celebrate achievement, athleticism and environmental sportsmanship.

"Raising awareness in a partnership environment is an integral part of FCA's charter, Crescitelli said, "and helping children's charities has been part of our identity since the beginning. We are pleased that by working with Jacob's Team we will significantly increase our ability to help children with autism."

The Jacob's Team Foundation was established to raise money to support the diagnosis, treatment and eventual cure of autism through the promotion of an active lifestyle and healthy living. Throughout the year, Jacob's Team accepts applications from families in need of financial assistance to help pay for treatment, special education needs or other care costs for their autistic child.

Jacob's Team member Lloyd Jacobsen said that individual athletes, sportsmen and teams can "join" Jacobs Team as a way to support the foundation's goals, and that pairing with the FCA and the Manhattan Cup was a perfect fit. "We look forward to building a wonderful relationship with the FCA," Jacobsen said.

About The Manhattan Cup, Presented by SpongeTech

The Manhattan Cup has become the largest one-day in-shore fishing tournament in the Northeast. Approximately 50 professional fishing guides provide their boats and expertise to individual teams competing for the largest striped bass, bluefish and weakfish among three categories (fly, artificial and bait). This year will also mark the second year in a row that the tournament will feature a "Live Release Division," demonstrating that Striped Bass can be weighed in and released alive to fight and spawn again.

This year's event is May 15, 2009. All boats will leave Chelsea Piers at 9:00 am and return at 4:00 pm for the annual FCA Manhattan Cup awards ceremony at the Chelsea Brewing Company, located at Pier 59 on the Hudson River.
